Spirituality and
True Freedom
In our book, The
Key Is In The Darkness, we suggest that the heart of the spiritual
journey involves letting go of shame and realizing our full
participation in Divinity. Of course, for different spiritual
traditions, the particular understandings and methods are different,
but the underlying dynamic is the same. The more we can let go of
our fear of not being worthy and own our participation in the Divine
flow, however we understand that, the more we free ourselves to
creatively express our gifts in the world. Again, the more
happiness and fulfillment we want, the more valuable this spiritual
journey will be.
In this article,
we would like to guide you into an experience of what it feels like
to let go of shame and accept the love of Divinity, if only for a
moment. In that moment, you can taste the joy and freedom that
comes from building a powerful, personal, and loving relationship
with God/A Higher Power/The Source Of The Universe. We submit that
the more you taste the sweetness that such spiritual openness
offers, the more inspired you will be to deepen your spiritual
practice.
For some, the
story we are about to tell might become a type of meditation or
spiritual practice in itself. For others, it can serve as a guide
that lets them know how fully they are accepting the gifts that
their spiritual tradition offers. We encourage you to engage
yourself fully into this journey to discover what it holds for you.
The Fantastic,
Imaginary Story
Imagine for a
moment that you are reading an article on Spirituality and True
Freedom (that part should be pretty simple!). Then, as you are
reading, you fall into a deep sleep and begin to dream a dream that
is so real that you recognize it as a spiritual vision.
In that vision,
your consciousness leaves your body, passes through a vast portal,
and goes to a heavenly place where you meet a being that radiates
pure love and power. You know that this being is the representation
of the highest good, the purest love, the deepest truth, and the
most profound reality. You are face to face with Divinity
itself....
